Hello Kitty turned 50 on November 1, 2024, but doesn’t look like she (or any of her friends) have aged a day.
Sanrio, the Japanese company that owns Hello Kitty, has been celebrating the anniversary of their beloved character for years with special products and events for fans of its adorable cat and her friends. Her anniversary is known as Hello Kitty Day.
Created in 1974 by Japanese artist Yuko Shimizu, Hello Kitty is the bow-wearing bobtail cat, also known by her real name, Kitty White, who lives in London.
She’s become a global icon that’s a staple in Japanese kawaii (cute) culture with merchandise, costumes, cafes and even a theme park inspired by her.
In honor of her 50th birthday and overall legacy, we thought it’d be a great idea to bring you 5 of our favorite Hello Kitty finds.
1. Hello Kitty 50th Anniversary Plush
